INTRODUCTION
The 2010 Commonwealth Games were a momentous occasion for the weavers of the small town of Chanderi in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The monogram used for the games was developed by Mohammad Furqan (Furqan), a weaver from Chanderi. (Refer to Exhibit 1) Furqan’s design was selected from among the hundreds of entries received for the monogram. For a small town boy, it was a big achievement. Soon, Furqan became a special designer of Chanderi and an inspiration for many Chanderi youth. Furqan’s success was credited to a software program which he used for designing the monogram.
